You may see the Blue Checkmark on Facebook pages and want to know what it means or why it’s on some pages and not on your page?
Facebook is placing the Blue Checkmark on pages to identify that the page is a Verified/Official Facebook Page. This helps a brand build authenticity and credibility for your fans and customers that are searching for you on Facebook.
Some well-known public figures and Pages with large followings are verified by Facebook as having an authentic identity. The Pages and profiles that are verified include: Celebrities | Journalists | Government officials | Public Figures | Sports Team | Media | Entertainment | Popular brands and businesses.
Some Local businesses may be eligible for a gray verification badge. If you’re an admin and your Page is eligible you’ll see this option in your Page’s Settings or you’ll get a notification on the left side of your page under your profile picture. The notification will read: Verify for free to attract more visitors.
If you’re not seeing the notification, here are the 6 Easy Steps:
- Click Settings at the top of your Page.
- Go to General and click Page Verification.
- Click Verify this Page, then Get Started.
- Enter the phone number associated for your business.
- Click Call Me Now and Facebook will call with a 4-digit verification code.
- Enter the 4-digit verification code and click Continue.
Facebook will confirm that the information matches public records and send you a notification or email about your verification status within a few days.
Note: In addition to the phone verification to receive the code, you can verify your page with a business document such as a phone bill showing your business’ name and address that you can upload to Facebook.
We wish you Success in getting your page verified so your brand can continue to build authenticity and stay on Target with your customers and those searching for you!
